Poppy Drews-Liem says:
I get commissions for hotels, offices etc. That, I class under "another profession", since from that money I buy my painting materials for my own free work. The free work is my own territory, I'm not making it commercial for traders. It's purely for my own satisfaction. However, if a trader/collector happens to like it, I sell it. No pretensions.

A short background about my paintings, which seem to be inconsistent in style.
The jungle series are done in acrylics. Those were commissioned by the Sheraton & also collectors abroad who particularly wanted the tropical look of Indonesia after they'd seen the ones at Lombok Sheraton.

Some others are thematic, such as: penjara, tsunami aftermath, lumpur panas, brothel, topics that kept my mind occupied till it was fixed on canvas. The Loro Kidul series came after the Tsunami and it's a combination of the Gods' influence on nature and of women's lib. The rest are objects in my own environment, people I've met & travel shots. And of course : Flowers.

Due to my bad eyesight, I do the smaller scaled paintings with a palette knife, just a rough impression, and the larger scaled ones more detailed.
