Born in Surabaya, E. Java, 1950. In 1967, left Indonesia to study at the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Majored in Interior Architecture for the first three years, then changed major to painting at the Fine Arts department of the same academy. 1975, graduated from the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten. 1975 -1980, exhibited at joint exhibitions in Rotterdam, Utrecht and Antwerp Belgium, subsidised by government scheme in which a limited selection of works were bought for government collection. 1980, returned to Indonesia, lived in Bali for three years studying the brilliance of light and colours. Did lots of commission work while in Bali.
